Song and Silence

Long He sat in song and silence
Pain, the price of every birth
Torn the veil, devoid of violence
God made heaven and the earth

On the string, a countless chorus
Angels sing, on wing of flight
“Glory, Father, now before us”
And He said, “Let there be light”

From His chord was struck creation
Dust he made, to every mote
From his trumpet, man and nation
Blasted forth in every note

All of heaven glorifies Him,
Every stone cries out His name
Yet the voice of man denies him
Gift of choice, a rift of shame

God, who made the land and ocean!
God, who made the stars and skies!
Man, who trembles at the notion,
Let him be accounted wise
